They say moms love all of their children equally even if not the same, and that is exactly how I feel about each and every pair of jeans in my denim collection. While my love for all of them is strong, they each have a unique perspective they bring to my wardrobe. I will admit some styles do get more attention than others. Whether it’s because they fit me better or because they’re a classic style that simply works for more occasions, it doesn’t mean that I love the others any less. After all, they all have a time and a place when they will be called up! Finding the right pair of jeans isn’t an easy task and when you find one you love, you love it with all of your heart. This season there are five different shapes that are taking center stage and I’ve rounded them all up so you can find the perfect jeans for you. Here are the types of jeans to wear now and where to shop for them at both higher and lower price points.

WIDE-LEG JEANS
Wide leg jeans have become a staple over the past few seasons. With a higher rise at the top block for a more defined waist, it’s a flattering fit for many body types. They are a versatile fit that are easy to reach for daily and style for work, casual outings or dinner dates. My personal preference is for a full length and high rise in a classic, medium wash that I’ll wear through spring with sandals and feminine tops for a breezy, it’s-almost-summer-time look. They’re a truly transitional fit, looking equally chic with sweaters and boots when fall weather inevitably rolls around again!

BAGGY JEANS
As we move into spring and summer, looser fit jeans feel effortlessly cool. Baggy jeans offer a more casual, relaxed look and I’m seeing low-rise jeans trending in baggy silhouettes. Unlike the wider leg jeans we’ve been wearing for a few seasons, these jeans are getting baggier and slouchier. Low rise jeans are actually a great way to elongate the upper body if you are short-waisted or just need a break from all of the high rise jeans we’ve been wearing over the past couple of years. This silhouette also works for every body shape as it’s not form fitting. If have been looking to try a new pair of jeans or love to wear the latest trending fit, these are the right jeans for you.

BARREL JEANS
This is one of those pairs of jeans that has been percolating for a long time and has finally come to the forefront. It took a while for everyone’s eyes to adjust to the barrel leg shape but now the unusual look of these loose jeans are trending everywhere. The shape of these high-rise jeans looks great on different body types even if you have long or short legs as they come in cropped lengths. If your personal style is for a cool, casual look with a modern relaxed vibe, definitely try these jeans this season.

STRAIGHT LEG JEANS
Skinny jeans have been threatening a return, but so far I haven’t seen a big comeback. If you were a skinny jean fan previously or love slim fit jeans, straight jeans are the next best thing and the foundation to any capsule wardrobe. Straight fit jeans encapsulate the cool classics of the 90’s and are easy to outfit with almost anything. A straight-leg jean is the perfect pair of jeans: timeless, elegant in its simplicity, confident enough not to chase any major trends. Make sure the jeans sit at your natural waist (which is generally at your belly button). This helps to elongate your legs and accentuate your waist. And choose a rigid pair (without stretch) so you get the perfect shade of indigo where the wash fades naturally over time. These types of jeans work back to any shoe, from knee-high boots to sneakers to sandals.

BOOTCUT JEANS
Bootcut jeans are making a comeback. Maybe we have Bella Hadid and her new cowgirl lifestyle to thank for the sudden boost? From high-waisted jeans with a slim waist to trending lower rises, the bootcut brings a hint of that 70’s vibe into your denim assortment. Whether you already have long legs or are looking to elongate yours, this is the right fit for both. The slight flare at the leg opening is a great way to accommodate those cowboy boots (after all, that’s why this fit was created in the first place) but also looks great with strappy heels and platform sandals like these from Chloe.
