Peter Yera, Director of Design & Development at Fine Art Handcrafted Lighting

Peter has been with Fine Art Handcrafted Lighting since 1996, working his way through various aspects of the business, eventually becoming Head Designer in 2018.  As a kid he loved sketching Marvel superheroes and Disney characters leading him to study architecture and later apply his design instincts to interiors for his and his friend’s homes.  He has held many roles at Fine Art Handcrafted Lighting which allowed him to oversee various aspects of design and planning. He draws inspiration from nature, bridges, architectural forms, geometric patterns, fashion, and jewelry. Even something as ordinary as a highway overpass or a weathered surface can trigger an idea.

Born in New York, Peter moved to Miami at age six with his tight-knit Latin family. The mix of cultures in his family combined with Miami’s bold energy and the architecture of South Beach had a big influence on his creative perspective. He describes his style as mid-century modern with an industrial chic edge and appreciates clean silhouettes, timeless forms, and the challenge of blending vintage inspiration with something fresh and contemporary. In Peter’s free time, he enjoys biking, weight training, and heading to the beach with his wife and their Australian Shepherd. Being outdoors helps him reset and sparks new ideas.
