To my eye, nothing goes better together than a feminine top with jeans. The perfect balance of feminine and masculine, it’s what I aspire to for all of my looks and as a denim girl at heart, this happens to be my favorite pairing. It also happens to be incredibly easy to throw on and look effortlessly pulled together, which is what we are all striving for, isn’t it? Maximum impact, minimal effort.
Now, there are some rules when it comes to proportions. You don’t necessarily want baggy on top and bottom, like you are swimming in your clothes. Nor do you want tight on top and bottom. This post is dedicated to those styling tips that help you strike the right balance and easily pair your favorite femme tops with different styles of jeans. See our guide for styling different leg shapes and rises with pretty, feminine tops and have fun shopping along the way!

STRAIGHT JEANS
If you wear jeans often, this is a pair that belongs in your capsule wardrobe. Straight leg jeans go with so many different tops, are flattering on every body shape, and seemingly never go out of style. They also go well with a lot of different tops proportions, but pair especially well with feminine styles. I love a great eyelet or lace top like this one because it’s so delicate that it offsets a more masculine straight denim fit. With the statement shoulders and gathered cuffs, it adds a softer touch to the look.

FLARE JEANS
These feminine jeans look great with a fitted high waist and pair well with trendy tops like this short sleeve tie front top. The length of this crop top is perfect as it hits at the bottom of the waistband creating the perfect proportion between the shirt and the wider leg opening of the jeans. It’s a great outfit, especially with a pair of high heels to help elongate the legs!
Try this gorgeous embroidered tie-front top from SEA with your flare jeans.

WIDE LEG JEANS
Relaxed fit, wide-leg jeans are great for summer, especially with a higher rise and fitted waist. I love them paired with this reworked button-down shirt turned into a cropped wrap top. It makes the shirt more feminine against the baggy jeans and helps to accentuate the waist. I’m also obsessed with Grece Ghanem, this 59 year old influencer, who proves day in and day out that age is just a number!
Here’s a similar white cropped shirt to try with your wide leg jeans.

BAGGY JEANS
A great way to wear baggy jeans is with a feminine, flowy, floral print top. The softness and femininity balance the oversized, masculine silhouette of the jeans. I love a sheer blouse with long sleeves as it feels so light and airy.
This floral print top from Zara pairs perfectly with your baggy jeans….and is easy on the wallet too.

BOYFRIEND JEANS
Boyfriend jeans are such a great summer staple. And sometimes a simple black top or tank is all you need with it! Pair high heels or strappy sandals with them to help elevate this look and keep it feminine. It’s a sexy, not-trying-too-hard outfit, perfect for a girls night out or casual date.
Here is one of my favorite sexy black tanks to wear this summer.

SKINNY JEANS
Skinny jeans were the only on-trend silhouette for years and the buzz is that they are making a comeback. If you never got off the skinny train to begin with, these looks will be right up your alley! There are so many different looks and proportions that work with skinny jeans and they look great on every body type, which is why I think they maintained their popularity for so long.
If you are into black jeans, this first pairing is a hot date night look. Try wearing a bralette in place of a cute top or cami and layer a blazer over it.
This black bralette is a best seller.

You can also wear a feminine blouse that has puff-sleeves with skinny jeans. This white eyelet top looks great paired with mules or capped toe ballet flats.
This similar ruffled cotton top from H&M is perfect paired with your skinny jeans.

In the cooler months, opt for a pretty sweater with your classic blue jeans. I love this look with a belt and loafers for the fall.
This cashmere blend roll neck sweater from Jenni Kayne will be on repeat.

HIGH RISE JEANS
High-waisted jeans help to highlight the waist and body shape, which gives them a more feminine look on their own. You can always pair them with a basic tee or take it to the next level with a more feminine knit bandeau top. I love this look layered with a jacket like this chic blazer, or you could wear it with a denim jacket for a double denim look.
This vintage ribbed tube top from J. Crew has me excited to wear this look!

LOW RISE JEANS
A low rise pair of jeans helps to elongate the torso and looks better with longer lengths on top. In place of a nice top here, I love this vest worn on its own. Vests, and suiting in general, have been a trend over the past year and show no signs of slowing down.
This tailored vest from Frankie Shop is another favorite and would look great with any of your lower rise jeans.
