Top 10 Fall 2025 Fashion Trends Straight From The Runway

After watching the Fall 2025 fashion shows unfold this past month, I got a chance to sit down with my friend and fashion writer Jen Su to talk about the new fall trends coming down the pike, what she saw firsthand on the runways and what she found most exciting from each city this season. Of course the first topic we covered are the top 10 fall 2025 fashion trends we loved and can’t wait to wear in the coming months. While this is not an exhaustive list, it’s an exciting one that we can’t wait to get our hands on. From leather to lace to statement belts, here is a glance at what’s to come this fall season!

1. Suit Up

One of the major style trends for fall is the suit – namely the Power Suit and the Skirt Suit. Designers like Stella McCartney and Saint Laurent continued their Spring 2025 of menswear suiting into Fall 2025 with 80’s power shoulders and cinched waists being a dominant theme. As a counter to the power suit, skirt suits were seen at brands like Miu Miu and Erdem. The focus of these ladylike suits is a feminine jacket silhouette with fuller, more voluminous skirt shapes.

2. Boho Revival

Some designers continued their boho revival into the upcoming season with the most famous being Chloe. Chemena Kamala’s debut collection for Chloe last fall was such a huge success with her modern twist on boho launching so many trends with staying power like platform clogs, sheer fabrics, bag charms and the now famous suede bag trend.

3. Playful Outfits

Playful silhouettes and layering were a huge theme this season.  Styles with bubble skirts and peplums were seen on so many runways as were skirts over pants and unexpected ways to layer styles.

4. Statement Belts

If you love to wear the “it” statement pieces each season, look to the belt for Fall 2025. Jen loved the statement belts at Chloe and Schiaparelli where multiple belts were piled on! It’s an easy way to up your personal style statement next season and add to any blazer or dress.

5. Luxe Outerwear

A key theme to fashion month was saying goodbye to quiet luxury and hello to maximalism. Forget the demure outerwear silhouettes of last year, these styles are meant to take center stage. Voluminous scarf coats were standout pieces for fall which pairs beautifully with the suiting trend. Moving from fall into winter fashion will be easy with fur and faux fur statement outwear pieces. (Anyone still into the mob wife trend?) Stand out styles were from Miu Miu, Gabriela Hearst, Chloe, Acne Studios, Ulla Johnson and of course, Max Mara.

6. Animal Print

Snake print is having a moment this year. Dominating in Spring 2025 and continuing into fall, look to designers like Stella McCartney, Zimmermann and Duran Lantink for snake printed clothing, shoes and accessories. Leopard print is also seeing a huge resurgence as well as other animal prints like tiger stripes and cow patterns.  Seen on the runways of designers like Ganni, Khaite, Dries Van Noten and Jill Sander they were worn on their own or mixed with other prints in unexpected ways.

7. Yellow Hues

Indicating it’s not just a spring fad, the yellow trend continues from this spring to be one of the big fall 2025 fashion trends later this year. Jen saw many shades of yellow on the runway from a pale butter to a more saturated easter egg color. Her standouts were at Givenchy and Haider Ackermann. Make sure to add some yellow to your color palette next season.

8. Head to Toe Leather

Full leather monochromatic looks were on the runways of Tom Ford, Gabriela Hearst, Brandon Maxwell and Simkhai for Fall 2025 with black leather jackets paired with pants or skirts being the dominant trend. Ankle length leather trench coats were a standout at Fendi, Burberry and Chloe as well. Chloe’s trench was a favorite in a deep burgundy shade (another fall trend) with a plaid facing.

9.  80’s Redux

Anyone feeling nostalgic for the 80’s? Well some designers definitely are and they are recreating the decade with today’s consumer in mind. Collections with dominant 80’s themes include Stella McCartney who showed blazers with power shoulders and rouched mini dresses and Givenchy with modern version of the sweetheart neckline. Other designer collections with an 80’s theme were Isabel Marant, Vivienne Westwood and Saint Laurent.

10. Bows and Fringe

Pretty feminine bows have been decorating the runways over the past few seasons and continues to be one of the top fall 2025 fashion trends. Oversized ties were shown at Louis Vuitton and Nina Ricci, while small decorative bows were seen at Chanel and Giambatista Valli. Fringe has also been a micro-trend on the runways and does not seem to be slowing down into FW25.  Altuzarra’s fringe bag was a favorite as well as chic dresses at Tom Ford. Who wouldn’t want to ring in the new year with any of these styles!

Jen’s favorite fashion moment was in Milan where she was blown away by the Versace show!  Jen had a front row seat to what we now know was Donatella’s last show before stepping down from the famed fashion house. The collection was an incredible mix of bold colors, signature prints back to black, lace, leather, embellished details, the signature Versace safety pins, and so much more!

In New York, Jen loved Simkhai’s show whose collection was full of beading and crystal detail plus a modern take on vintage with oversized leather jackets and distressed knits. “I loved seeing Jonathan Simkhai and listening to him talk about the new collection. What a talented and humble soul he is.”

One of Jen’s favorite brands to watch at Paris Fashion Week is MaXhosa Africa by Laduma Ngxokolo who she has been covering since they first emerged in South Africa fifteen years ago. They’ve been on the official PFW schedule for three seasons now, dressing celebs from Beyoncé and Alicia Keys to Michelle Obama in their luxury knitwear and exquisite, unique creations.

Like me, Jen is from Philadelphia and always looks to support her local designers. Philly Fashion Week is always near and dear to her heart — Jeanette Limas, Conrad Booker, Elmira Van Den Berg, Milano Di Rouge, Autumn Lin, FreshPrint and Rosa Agliata are just a few of the many designers from the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator who she sees as ones to watch.  She also loves the Maison x PFW boutique and has a deep admiration of Kevin Parker and Kerry Scott who celebrated their 20th anniversary with Philly Fashion Week this year. As Jen put it, “The collections were fabulous and we really have an incredible mix of fashion talent in this city.” This year at PFW, she wore Atelier H by Himanthi — an incredibly dedicated designer who is really coming out in her style journey.
